Steptoe, My New Nickname

My husband has taken to calling me Steptoe, in reference to the amount of 'finds', he calls them something quite different, that I have accumulated. This bounty has  started to clutter up the garage, which is now referred to as Steptoe's yard.

I am very good at spotting something in a junk shop or car boot sale that's selling for next to nothing. 'Oh I could do this and then varnish that and change this bit' I'll vow.
Spurred on my blogs and pinterest I'm like a woman possessed. Until of course it comes to having the time to actually doing what I set out to do.

So I've made a rule, no more buying any more stuff. I need to finish the bits and pieces I have first.

I also have lots of furniture already that can be updated so there's not really much point buying more.
If I mention anything new I've picked up, please don't hold back in telling me off. I'm replying on you all to be firm.

I really don't want to end up looking like this.

'I saw a marvellous revamp of one of these on that there Pinterest.'

    1. It is so difficult to find those few hours sometimes.

  2. Your husband should consider himself lucky you have a garage. I have the same problem with accumulating stuff and our spare bedroom really does resemble a junk yard. I'll join you on your shopping ban - it will be hard going but, we can do it if we stick together. :)

    1. Believe me the more space you have the more rubbish you fill it with! Glad to hear you are joining me.

  3. I try to steer clear of charity shops apart from dropping things off, I see so many blogs where everyone talks about their lovely purchases! From the things that you have on your blog you seem very good at spotting an item's potential!

  4. Oh, it's me and my dear vonZeal in this picture, hahaha:) We collect so much junk, but for some reason we don't seem to be having enough time to do anything with it:)
Hope you are having a great day :)

  5. My husband is a bit of a steptoe himself, so there is no hope for us, it will be steptoe and wife :)

  6. I have an aversion to throwing thing's away, 'just incase' I get time or decide to make or recycle something from whatever it is. Our shed is full to bursting with the most random items I'm yet to be convinced to part with :-)

    1. Hold on to them. As soon as you throw them out you will find a need for them. At least thats always my argument.

  7. I once had a crazu day of sending all sorts of stuff to the charity shops. I have regretted it ever since. Every time I can't find a book I thought I had, or a side table, or a slightly worn bookend, things that you don't think you need now, but then do need 5 years later, I feel sad that it's no longer here.

So well done steptoe! Keep hoarding. Even better if it can get out of the 'yard' to find a new lease of life. But there's no rush. :-)
